About the author

Bobbie Neate
Mother of three, Bobbie Neate lives in Hampshire. After graduating from London University, Bobbie became a primary school teacher in some of London’s poorest districts. The teaching of reading was her prime interest. Gaining a research degree in the study of non-fiction reading strategies she went on to teach informational reading and writing skills to both adults and children and was a sought after consultant in Uzbekistan, South Africa, The Gambia,  the USA and Australia.

She has published extensively in the educational field on the subject of effective reading and writing strategies. While researching she thinks nothing of spending whole days in a dusty archive painstakingly deciphering the handwriting of old letters; working her way through box after box of correspondence like a detective searching for clues.
Away from her work she is happiest in her beach hut by the sea accompanied by her Cairn terrier, Aggie. Long distance walking is another passion and Bobbie has reached base camp on Mount Everest as well as completing many of the ‘tramps’ in New Zealand’s South Island. She enjoys making sculptures (specialising in wood carving) and is a keen gardener.
